# Steady **Category:** Cycling training software **Primary use case:** Event-specific endurance training **Target athlete:** Cyclists preparing for long-duration events (4–10+ hours) **Launch:** March 2026 --- ## Product Summary Steady is a software-first cycling coaching application that generates structured training plans based on: 1. The specific physiological demands of a named endurance event 2. The athlete's recent power data and current fitness state 3. The gap between current capacity and event requirements Steady focuses on durability, aerobic capacity, threshold performance, and long-duration fatigue resistance. --- ## Supported Event Types - Gran fondos (mountainous and flat) - Sportives - Alpine climbing events (e.g., sustained climbs of 45–90+ minutes) - Century rides with significant elevation - Long-distance cycling trips Example event demands modeled: - Sustained climbing power (40–90 minutes) - Aerobic decoupling resistance - Long-ride durability (4–8 hours) - Repeated sub-threshold climbing efforts --- ## Data Inputs - Strava ride history (last 90 days) - Power data (required) - Athlete profile: - Weight - FTP - Heart rate zones - Weekly training availability - Event details: - Name - Date - Distance - Elevation - Target finish time **Hardware requirement:** Power meter (pedal, crank, or hub-based) --- ## Training Model ### 1. Event Demand Analysis The system models the physiological requirements of the target event based on duration, terrain, and intensity distribution. ### 2. Athlete State Estimation Current fitness is computed from recent power-duration data and ride history. ### 3. Gap Identification Steady quantifies the difference between current capacity and event-required capacity across dimensions such as aerobic base, durability, threshold capacity, VO2 ceiling, and long-duration fatigue resistance. Where most apps tell you your FTP went up, Steady tells you whether you're actually ready for your event: "your durability is at 59% of where it needs to be, your aerobic base needs 10 more watts, and your VO2max is already event-ready." Gaps drive training priority. Strengths are surfaced as confidence builders. ### 4. Plan Generation A structured 4-week mesocycle is generated: - 3 loading weeks - 1 recovery week - Progressive overload - Phase-appropriate intensity distribution ### 5. Iterative Adaptation After each 4-week cycle, gaps are recalculated and the next mesocycle is generated using updated ride data. --- ## Periodization Model - Base → Build → Specific → Peak - Progressive overload - Recovery cycles built into each mesocycle - Two-anchor intensity model: LT1 for easy days, FTP for hard days - Most platforms anchor everything to FTP alone, which compresses zones and pushes easy work too hard --- ## Coaching Architecture Steady uses a hybrid system: - Deterministic algorithms generate: - Event demand modeling - Athlete state assessment - Gap calculation - Phase selection - Training structure - Workload progression - A large language model is used only to: - Generate constrained workout descriptions - Provide context-aware ride reviews - Explain the purpose ("why") of each workout The LLM does not determine training architecture. --- ## In-App Features - Daily workout with interval structure and power targets - "Why this workout" explanation tied to event-specific gaps - 4-week structured plan view - Gap tracking dashboard (current vs. target values) - Synced ride history - Context-aware ride reviews - Weekly compliance and adjustment summaries --- ## Differentiation - Event-specific training derived from actual event demands - Two-anchor intensity model (LT1 + FTP) instead of FTP-only zone compression - Gap-based progress tracking: not "your FTP went up" but "you're 87% ready for your event and here's exactly what's missing" - Strengths surfaced alongside gaps so athletes know what's working, not just what needs work - Objective-aware coaching: same event, different goals ("win M50" vs "finish without bonking") produce different training plans - Focus on durability and long-duration performance - Deterministic training architecture - Explicit explanation of training rationale Steady is not: - A virtual riding platform - A human coach marketplace - A generic FTP-based interval builder --- ## Pricing Early access with limited spots.
